1.6 Patch

Post by Lawndart » Sun Jun 08, 2008 12:27 pm

Update: Patch 1.6 Released!

- New maps Creek, Chinatown, Broadcast, and Killhouse

- Hardcore and oldschool server browser filters

- Fix for a Denial of Service attack.

- Includes all the changes up to patch 1.5

This is not an "official release" per se, but it was the version that nVidia SLI users were to get before anyone else. In other words, it got leaked. Because this is a leak there probably will be fewer servers with Patch 1.6 working initially. Regardless, Infinity Ward is expected to make their "official" release soon (June 5th... although we're already past that date).

I fired up CoD and hit refresh on my server browser and all, but a few servers were of a different version - so, I'm going to install this 1.6 patch now! Can't wait to try the new maps... :D

You know you play too much CoD4 when...
  1. you run around Best Buy in the laptop section yelling "headquarters located!"
  2. you constantly check corners for Claymores.
  3. you imagine your house as one on Bloc or your street corner looks like District.
  4. playing hide and seek, you tell your mates that you have UAV Jammer enabled, and they shouldn't bother looking for you.
  5. you suddenly leave your seat at the lunch table and you tell your friends "The enemy has Alpha!!"
  6. you realise that corner in the office is the perfect place for a Claymore.
  7. you wait for the grenade icon to appear after something is dropped.
  8. you watch a war movie and think you can do better.
  9. you think to put a smoke grenade in front of a large building with lots of windows before you dare to walk across the street.
  10. you constantly glance up and to the left to check your mini-map, wondering what your friends are doing.
  11. you daydream about cooking a grenade and tossing it in your boss’s office.
  12. you debate with a friend if that cinder block wall is safe enough to hide behind.
  13. you are all alone and you hear in your head: "Get it done Marine; you're all that's left!"
  14. you see someone fall, and you run in terror thinking they have Martyrdom.
  15. you run indoors every time you see a helicopter.
  16. you can name a gun by the sound it makes.
  17. you steal people's briefcases at the office thinking it is the bomb.
  18. you're trying to remember if friendly fire is on or not in a crowded room.
  19. you see a little girl skipping down the side walk and think she is lagging.
  20. you walk by an ugly girl and say to yourself "what a terrible spawn!"
So, on that note... if you want some really good strategy tips, what perks go well with your favorite weapon etc. Check out Call of Duty 4 Strategies @ GameReplays.org. There's a Call of Duty 4 Strategy Index on the right side of the screen with Weapons Guides, Map Guides & Tips of the Week covering each class and more.

21. You actually dream about being in the game as a Spetznaz and you're being held hostage....

No shit, happen last night. What's next, dreaming about racing in Grid...

Lol I also saw in that second link mention of a new Tony Hawk game with a board, and me thinks with Activision running Guitar Hero, this could be something fun to do on a Friday/Saturday night after some debauchery! Can you say broken bones?!

This will be cool... new maps and maybe even more weapons and challenges :D .

Hope it's as good as COD4 as it is now.

I love COD4 but I am not liking the speed that they are producing more games. COD5 came out within like 10 months after COD4. COD4 is an amazing game and I love it, the only problem is the short campaign. I think if they made an expansion DVD of more campaigns and things, it would make that game sooo much nicer. I'll see how COD6 looks though. :D

Actually, Treyarch and Infinity Ward have been alternating the releases of the CoD series, starting with CoD3 (by Treyarch). Before then all titles and expansion packs were developed by IW. CoD5: WaW is developed by Treyarch, so essentially IW has been working on CoD6: MW2 since Call of Duty 4 went gold back in the fall of 2007. That makes the release cycle for each developer 2 years, but the release cycle for the publisher, Activision, once every year. Keeps them happy. I've always been biased towards the IW releases myself, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing CoD: MW2 later in 2009. Yes, it's a cash cow and the gaming industry, or rather Activision is milking every penny out of it, but who cares when the games are great! :D

I plan on supporting our economy by answering the call in 2009! ;)
