Bon Jobie Retiring/New Boss Announcement!

On behalf of the Virtual Thunderbirds I would like to make what will be my final addition to this part of the forum: With tremendous mixed feelings I am stepping down as the Commander/Leader of the Virtual Thunderbirds. It has literally been a dream come true for me to not only be a part of this gre...

I remember that someone did an interview with "FiFi", and she said she was going back to flying "Mudhens". Interesting how they would go to staff jobs, are these still flying jobs Bon or will they be flying desks now? As I mentioned, "most" former Thunderbirds go to a follow-on staff or school assi...

Most pilots from the Demo team will go to "staff" assignments as they came from active fighter squadrons prior to the Thunderbird assignment. Some go to the Pentagon, others go to a ACSC (Air Command and Staff College) or Air Ward College or a similar school. Very rarely are they put back into a fly...

Red, White and Blue is correct. (When numbers 7 and 8 join the formation they would be referred to as "Grey/Gray") In the US Air Force the two ship formations are referred to as "elements" instead of "sections" as in the USN.

Retirement of #5, Lead Solo

It is times like this that it is not fun being VTB #1.....announcing the retirement of any VTB, but particularly one of the founding fathers of this team, Chris "Striker" Curtis. Striker has had a tremendous amount of "real life" on his plate during the last several months as he has prepared to be d...

Practice show doesn't mean mistake show. As I am sure you know they strive for every practice show to be as good as every scheduled show; some days it just doesn't come together as others. . . .boy, don't I know that.

Sweeeeeeeeeet. There is a good reason I haven't visited the Man Cave again.....It would be a black hole from which I would never return.......The best I could hope for was sitting in the unfinished product in the Man Cave Garage before last March's Luke AFB show.

[2007-08-13] New Virtual Thunderbird Selected - Thumper

Congratulations to our newest team member, Allen "Thumper" Hartford. Thumper has worked hard over the past several months and shown he has what it takes to be a Virtual Thunderbird. As we have said in the past, "Welcome aboard, rookie! Time to strap on the jet and get to REALLY get to work!" Again, ...

Interesting why this letter is making the rounds again after 2 years. I live in the PHX area and saw the original letter when it happened. Yep, I was amazed, and I still am, that a military veteran could have been so incredibly shorted sighted; however, I at least gave him credit that he apologized ...

Beautiful shots! As one who has over 1500 hs in the Talon I look for the day when we will take to the virtual skies in these beautiful airplanes. I grew up in Las Vegas not far from Nellis, and I still remember the first show they flew at home after the transition from the Phantom to the -38. They l...
