Further comments... Someone else asked about the blurb on the site about R3 movement. If there is any movement whatsoever, I can neither see nor feel it. -Skater I asked about max pressure, curious if my 6# max deflection estimate based on extrapolating what was on the site said. He replies: Not sur...

From said friend, posting over at SHQ...
Zero movement on the R3.

The R2 had a few mm of play, but there is none on the R3.

That said, force sticks are just fun. On the plus side, smoothness and pilot feedback were the reasons that the real F-16 force stick was given physical deflection and that this incarnation of the FSSB has built in deflection is exciting. That would be interesting! How much does the F-16 stick move...

It's true. The quick movements available on a force stick get amplified through the net code and make things look bouncy- it happens. That said, force sticks are just fun. On the plus side, smoothness and pilot feedback were the reasons that the real F-16 force stick was given physical deflection a...

I'm guessing even lower. If you actually look at the manual / PDF for the R1/R2, you choose between 6/8/10/21 pounds for full deflection. In the specs at the end, it says: Maximum recommended load: 35 pounds Maximum tolerated load: 45 pounds Sounds to me like they're saying "If you over 45#, you'll ...

I'm curious too.

Be careful though.

The R1/R2 let you dial in up to 35# force, with 45# max allowed.

The R3 has a max usable of 10# and a max allowed of 20#.

I read the "four possible settings" as gain control - as in at the 1/4 setting, the full 10# of applied force only gives 1/4 throw.

600,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance. Pffft. I'm calling fake. Any engineer would know that wind resistance would vary with volume and shape (Cd) - mass/weight are irrelevant to how much drag / "air resistance" is generated (though of course would factor in...

I guess Nellis is a much higher likelihood for me again next year than it would have been had school come through. We'll see how long it takes me to get back into the workforce. I don't think they do the EAA very often but I haven't really paid attention (think that's what the Oshkosh show is)...nic...
